Why is pure gold not suitable for ornaments?

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 8 months ago

Pure gold is known as 24 carrot gold.

It is very soft and can be easily bent without much effort!! So, we can't use pure gold in making ornaments cause they are not hard.

To prevent this gold is alloyed with either silver or copper. This alloy is hard enough for making ornaments. Generally 22 carot gold is used in making ornaments.

Because 24 carat gold is very pure and it cannot be given fixed shape and it melts very fast. 24 carat gold, or pure gold is very soft and hence cannot be used for making jewellery
