the maximum resistance can be found by adding all the resistance that is placing them in series
so Rs=R1+R2+R3=2+3+5=10ohm
minimum effective resistance is obtained if we make parallel combinations
so 1/Rp=1/R1+1/R2+1/R3=1/2+1/3+1/5=6/5
so Rp=5/6=0.83ohm
now if we can keep two of the larger resistors in parallel and the smaller in series
1/Rp=1/R2+1/R3=1/3+1/5=16/30
so Rp=30/16=1.875ohm
now in series
Rs=R1+1.875 ohm =2+1.875=3.875 ohm
