Raw materials are substances which cannot be directly utilized by the organisms. They require further processing inside the body like digestion in animals and photosynthesis in plants. CO₂, water and minerals compounds are raw materials for plants while water, carbohydrate, protein, fat and vitamins are raw material for the animals. These raw materials are to be taken from outside by plants and animals, respectively.
