Value of k if 3x+2ky=2 and 2x+5y+1=0 are parallel

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 7 months ago

3x + 2ky - 2 = 0               ;             2x + 5y + 1 = 0
a₁ = 3                                            a₂ = 2
b₁ = 2k                                          b₂ = 5
c₁ = -2                                           c₂ = 1

For parallel lines :-
 a₁  b₁  ≠  c₁
 a₂      b₂      c₂

2k  ≠  -2
2       5        1

 15  = k
  4

k ≠ -5

They are in parallel. So, 3/2=2k/5 3*5=2*2k k=15/4=4.25
