Use elimination to solve each system of equations 3x+2y=0. ,x-5y=17

3x+2y=0 ........... (i)

x-5y=17 ........... (ii)

Multiply equation (ii) by 3

3x - 15y = 51 ........... (iii)

Subtract (i) from (iii), we get

3x - 3x -15y -2y = 51

-17y = 51

y = -51/17

y = -3

Put y = -3 in (i) , we get

3x +2 (-3) =0

3x - 6 = 0

3x = 6

x = 2
