Put x = 0

5x - 4x2 + 3

= 5(0) - 4(0)2 + 3

=  3

= 3

and Put x = -1

5x - 4x2 + 3

= 5(-1) - 4(-1)2 + 3

= -5 -4  + 3

= -9 + 3

= -6

Put x = 2

5x - 4x2 + 3

= 5(2) - 4(2)2 + 3

= 10 - 16 + 3

= 13 -16

= -3
