“The dams that were constructed to control floods have triggered floods.” Ironically, the dams that were constructed to control floods have triggered floods due to sedimentation in the reservoir, mostly been unsuccessful in controlling floods at the time of excessive rainfall. The low lying areas suffer the most because the dams fail to provide a 100 percent guarantee to control the flow of water during excessive rainfall, and whenever there is an overflow , these are the areas which drown first.
