The configuration for vanadium in V2+ state is 3d3 4s0....The configuration for vanadium V3+ state is 3d2 4s0....So this means we need high energy to go from V2+ to V3+ state as vanadium is stable in V2+...Then why does the value of M3+/M2+ low for vanadium??Since for the same stability case the value of M3+/M2+ is high for zinc and low for iron....

Zinc is stable due to full fill orbital d^10 so high energy is needed in that case whereas in case of iron energy is comparable to vanadium
