Why does electrostatic field lines not form closed loops?

Because electric field lines emerges from negative charge and goes into positive charge.... they never return back to negative charge .....due to which they do not form closed loops...

Because No electric field lines exist inside close loop .

The electric line of force is the path occupied by a unit positive test charge when placed along the line. If electric field line is a closed loop it means that positive test charge would come back to the positive source charge i.e initially there was repulsion and now it has turned into the attraction, which is impossible .
