The South Indian river that receives rain water both in summer and winter is Kaveri.

Also known as Cauvery, the origin of this river is Karnataka and it flows southeast through Tamil Nadu into the Bay of Bengal. It has several tributaries and the river basin spreads across four states and union territories.
