Seeding means to give preference to a good team or say a team with a good background, i.e. it has well played earlier. Teams which are seeded are kept in different pools so that two strong teams do not face each other in earlier rounds. This helps to make a tournament keen or exciting. Bye is given in a tournament when no. of teams are odd overall, so that in semi finals only 4 teams are left. Byes are generally given to the teams who are the last season's top performers. By giving bye to a team, the team is not allowed to play the first round and he will continue the tournament from the second round. This might help you!!!!
