Advertising effects equality in democracy in two ways: 1) It often portrays the lifestyle of only rich people and makes people who cannot afford to buy the items advertised feel inferior. 2) Small shops or vendors cannot afford to advertise their products because of the high cost of advertising. If at all they can advertise, they might be small ones.
