    A galvanometer is a device use to detect current in a circuit. When a current carrying coil is placed in magnetic field it experiences torque, the magnitude which depends on the strength of current. Here the deflection torque and restoring torque is equal to each other and at equilibrium the deflection of coil is proportional to current.
