The various parts of the human eye and their respective functions include:

  1. Cornea – It helps the light to enter the eyes coming through various objects.
  2. Iris – It controls the amount of light entering in to the eyes.
  3. Pupil – It is a hole in middle of iris which adjusts its opening to allow the required amount of light for clearing purpose.
  4. Ciliary muscles- The focal length of the eyes is changed by the action of ciliary muscles. The ciliary muscles can change the thickness of the soft and flexible eyes lens and hence the focal length which, in turn, changes the converging power of the eyes.
  5. Eye-lens – It forms the real image of the object on the retina.
  6. Retina – It is a screen on which the image is formed.
  7. Optic nerve – These nerves transfers the formed image to the brain.

Working of the eye:-The light coming from the object kept in front of us enter through the cornea of the eyes, pass through the pupil of the eyes and fall on the eye lens. The eyes lens is convex lens, so it converge the light rays and produces a real and inverted image of the object on the retina. The image formed on the retina is conveyed to the brain by the optic nerve and gives rise to the sensation of vision.
