In the seventeenth and eighteenth century, the merchants from towns in Europe began moving to the countryside as the resources were available in plenty and at cheaper rates.

Also, the manual laborers in the country were in high numbers which were useful for increasing the production.

As this was the era of industrialization, large-scale production was a must to supply the goods to the international market and to cut the costs involved in buying resources and getting laborers in the town, and the merchants moved to the countryside.
