(a) Electrolytic reduction is the method of reducing metals with the help of electrolysis whereas electrolytic refining means refining by electrolysis.
(b) The natural minerals in which the metals or their compounds are found in earth are called minerals whereas those minerals from which the metals can be extracted conveniently and profitably are called ores.
(c) An alloy is a homogeneous mixture of two or more metals (or a metal and small amount of non-metals) prepared by mixing the various metals in molten state in required proportions, and then cooling their mixture to the room temperature whereas amalgam is an alloy of mercury with another metal.
