In CuSO4.5H2O, Cu is cordinated with 4 water molecules and two more oxygen atoms fron Sulphate ion. Now fifth water molecule is hydrogen bonded and is deeply embedded in crystal. It is not cordinated. Only 4 water molecules are coordinated and fifth is only hydrogen bonded.

Only one molecule of water which us outside the coordination sphere is hydrogen bonded the other four are coordinate bonded [Cu(H2O)4]^2+ so4^2- H2O
