Hydrochloric acid is discharged by the glands present on the abdomen walls. It dissolves particles of food and generates an acidic mechanism. Therefore, if HCl were not secreted in the abdomen, then pepsin would not be initiated. This would influence protein digestion. The HCl eliminate the germs and incite the enzyme pepsinogen. If the HCl is not discharged in the stomach the protein will not get assimilated and bacteria may not be killed which precipitate the disease in our body.
