It is very important to develop irrigation facility because of the following reasons :
1. It provides regular and timely water to the crops.
2. It increases productivity as well.
3. It reduces dependence of farmers on monsoon.
4. Some types of land especially the highland and karewas which solely depended on irrigation.
5. It improves water conditions in the soil and increases the water content of plant fibers
6. It also dissolves nutrients & makes them available to plants.
