[A] if dipole is placed along electric field then Fnet=qE-qE=0 i.e.,there is no any translatory motion. Also both force are passing through same line, hence the dipole will not rotate .torque=0 [B] If dipole is placed at an angle thita with uniform electric field then There is no any translatory motion. But both forces are not passing through same line, Hence the dipole will rotate. Torque =force×perpendicular distance =qE×2lsine thita =PEsine thita Torque = P×E For torque max Thita=90° For torque min Thita=0°
