The perimeter of a rectangular field is 82m and its area is 400m find the dimensions of the field

Let breadth be B

perimater = 2(L+B)

but perimeter=82,

therefore , 2(L+B) = 82

L+B = 41

therefore L = 41- B.

area = L* B

but area given = 400m2

so, L*B = 400

B *(41-B) = 400

-B2 + 41B = 400

-B2 + 41B - 400 = 0

B2 - 41B +400 = 0(MIDLLE TERM FACTORISATION)

B2 - (25B+16B) +400 = 0

B2 - 25B -16B +400 = 0

B(B -25) - 16(B - 25)= 0

THEREFORE BREADTH AND LENGTH ARE EITHER25 AND 16 RESPECTIVELY OR 16 AND 25 RESPECTIVELY.
