When charged particle is placed in electric field , particle experience the electric force. direction of the force depends upon the sign of the charge.
If charge is positive then force is along the direction of electric field , charge is negative then force is opposite to the direction of electric field.
when electron is projected perpendicular to the uniform electric field , it experience the electric force in a direction opposite to the field. therefore it will follow the parabolic path.
