A rheostat is a variable resistor or an adjustable resistor.Its resistance can be varied as desired.It is a continuous resistance varying device used to change the magnitude of current in a circuit by changing the length of the resistance wire inserted into the circuit.The main use of a rheostat is as variable resistance .
