The tropical deciduous are also known as the monsoon forests. They are found in the larger parts of India, northern Australia and central America. The trees shed their leaves in dry season to conserve water. The tropical deciduous have been commercially exploited because of the hardwood trees like sal, teak, neem, shisham etc. The timber obtained from the forests are used for making furniture, transport and constructional materials.
