For Anne, her diary was precious. This was because although she had a lot people whom she could call friends but since she had no special connect with anyone, she chose to befriend her dear diary which she christened as kitty. Also she felt that paper had more patience than humans because a paper never judges a person and the person can freely pen down anything that he or she has in their mind, whereas on the other hand humans are very judgemental. Therefore she felt that a diary could be something better than a human friend. She loved her kitty which also supported her in the times of hide when she had no one in her life, who could listen to the problems of a growing adolescent. This shows that Kitty, Anne's diary, played an important role in her life.
