The Panchayati Raj system is the grassroots level local self government in our country which aims at the decentralization of power. It has encouraged the active participation of common people in the decision making process which concerns their own lives and development as well. The Panchayati Raj system has also helped in raising the voices of the women folk in the villages who are now actively taking part in the political system of our country. Thus, it enables the citizens of our country to become a part of the mainstream politics. Therefore, it can be said that the Panchayati Raj system has strengthened democracy in India.
