Can anyone please tell me why do we have to take the acceleration of a particle to be zero while taking it from infinity to any point in calculating potential??

Thats not taken exactly zero but thats tending to zero , and due to that only we get a finite work done to bring that charge from infinity or else we would need infinite energy to bring any charge from infinity which is senseless !!
