Separation between both q charges is l and let us say Q is x m away from one charge .so it will be l-x away from another charge It is given that the system is in equilibrium, net force on each charge is zero. We know ,Fields on Q due to both charges having magnitude q are equal. kq/x^2=kq/(l-x)^2 x^2=(l-x)^2 x=l/2 x=1m Also force on charge q is zero . KqQ/l^2+kqq/(l-x)^2=0 -q/4=Q
