Physics • Topics junction transistor, transistor action, characteristics of a transistor and transistor as an amplifier (common emitter configuration), basic idea of analog and digital signals, logic gates (OR, AND, NOT, NAND and NOR) have been deleted from chapter 14 • Chapter 15 (Communication System) has been deleted • Design of Question Paper changed (20 Marks Objective Questions have been added and the total number of questions has increased to 34 from 27) Physics (Lab Manual) • Experiment 10 (to study the characteristics of a common-emitter n-p-n or p-n-p transistor and to find out the values of current and voltage gains) has been replaced by to determine the wavelength of a laser beam by diffraction in Section B. • Activity (Use of multimeter to (i) identify base of transistor, (ii) distinguish between n-p-n and p- n-p type transistors, (iii) see the unidirectional flow of current in case of a diode and an LED, (iv) check whether a given electronic component (e.g., diode, transistor or IC) is in working order) has been replaced by Use of multimeter to see the unidirectional flow of current in case of a diode and an LED and check whether a given electronic component (e.g., diode) is in working order. • Two Suggested Investigatory Projects have been deleted, namely, 1. To set up a common base transistor circuit and to study its input and output characteristic and to calculate its current gain. 2. To construct a switch using a transistor and to draw the graph between the input and output voltage and mark the cut-off, saturation and active regions.
