prudential reasons :- 1. it reduces conflict between opposite groups 2. it promotes political stability 3. its reduces tyranny of majority over minority moral reasons :- it emphasises the very spirit of democracy 2. people can make rules who are affected by these rules 3. it is a legitimate goverment means that people can hold any stake by contesting elections
