*they are colourless and have pleasant smell *Lower aldehydes are soluble in water because they form hydrogen bonding with water molecule *aldehyde are polar and the dipole moment of ketone is more than aldehyde because two + I group increase the polarity of c -o bond in ketone *due to dipole dipole intermolecular force of attraction aldehyde have high melting point and boiling point .the melting point and boiling point of an isometric ketone are higher than that of aldehyde
