Thermite rxn is a process in which metal oxides are treated with aluminium powder. It is highly exothermic rxn. The molten metal obtained is used for welding of railway tracks or cracked machine parts. Al + Fe2O3 = Fe + Al2O3 + heat (Fe2o3= Hematite)
