Deposits of solid salts are found in several parts of the earth. These deposits of large crystals are often brown due to impurities. This is called rock salt.
Beds of rock salt were formed when seas of bygone ages dried up. Rock salt is mined like coal.

The salt which is obtain from earth crust in the form of rock is called rock salt. Mainly common salt NACL is called rock salt it is black in colour when it is dug out from the earth crust.
