Natalya is an important character in the play ' the proposal' . She is a 25 year old , well educated ordinary looking girl. She is a good house keeper but very cwarlsome and abusive in nature . She is a hypocrite in the beginning. she talks to lomov with at most respect and politeness. But when he claims to be the owner of the oxen meadows she started cwarling with him forgetting all her manners. She is rigid , short tempered , short sighted and greedy.

Natalaya was a young unmarried girl of twenty five years. She lived in the neighbourhood of Lomov, a young unmarried man. She was an excellent housekeeper and was not bad looking. But in no time, she started quarrelling with him again. It was on their dogs. Both claimed their respective dogs to be of a superior breed.
