After GST the price gone up = X + (12/100)X
The equation will be
X + (12/100)X = 5400
X + 3X / 25 = 5400
(25X + 3X)/25 = 5400
28X = 5400 x 25
X = 5400 x 25 /28
X = 2700x25 /14
X = 1350x25 / 7
X = 33750 / 7
X = 4821.42(approx)
Therefore, originally it was Rs 4821.42(approx)
