(1) In 1804, Napoleon Bonaparte crowned himself as an Emperor of France. (2) He set out to conquer neighbouring European countries dispossessing dynasties. (3) He created kingdoms, where he placed members of his own family. (4) Napoleon saw his role as a moderniser of Europe. (5) He introduced many laws, such as the protection of private property. (6) He also introduced a uniform system of weights and measures, provided by the decimal system. (7) Many of his measures that carried the revolutionary ideas of liberty and modern laws to other parts of Europe, had an impact on people long after Napolean had left.
