The formula used to find the distance between two points is
{tex}d = \sqrt{(x2-x1)^{2}+(y2-y1)^{2} } Where,d = distance = 5\\(x1, y1) = First set of points, i.e A= (0,0)\\(x2, y2) = Second set of points i.e B= (x,-4)d = \sqrt{(x2-x1)^{2}+(y2-y1)^{2} } \\ 5 = \sqrt{(x-0)^{2}+(-4-0)^{2} } \\\\5 = \sqrt{(x)^{2}+(-4)^{2} }\\\\Squaring both sides\\\\25 = x^{2} + 16\\\\25-16 = x^{2}\\\\9 = x^{2}\\\\x = 3{/tex}
