Hydrogen sulphide react with silver and form silver sulphide, Hydrogen. Hydrogen is more reactive than silver then why is this reaction possible?

Before the reaction with hydrogen sulphide , silver undergoes oxidation and form silver oxide. And this silver oxide react with hydrogen sulphide to form silver sulphide and H2O.
