The refraction of light on going from one medium to another takes place according to two laws which are known as laws of refraction of light. These are :
According to first law of refraction: The incident ray, refracted ray and the normal at the point of incidence, all lie in the same plane.
According to second law of refraction: The ratio of sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is constant for a given pair of media.
