Let A be an event of people who speak hindi=45=n(A) B be the event of people who speak english=33=n(B) Now 10 people neither speak english nor hindi n(A intersection B)=10 Find how many people can speak both hindi and english? n(A U B) =? Since n(A U B)= n(A) +n(B)- n(A intersection B) Therefore n(A U B) = 45+33-10 = 78-10 =68 Hence 68 people can speak both hindi and english.
