Carbon has valency of 4 it means that it can form covalent bond(share electrons) easily with other atoms this property of it is called tetravalency

Tetravalenncy means it is a property of carbon in which it it has valency of either +4 or -4 it cant donate or gain electron but it can share electrons with other means it can form covalent bonds with them

Carbon has a valency of four, so it is capable of bonding with four other atoms of carbon or atoms of some other monovalent element.
This is known as tetravalency of carbon.
