Because noble gases have their outermost shell completed and also these gases are available in less quantity in the atmosphere.

Noble gas are separately placed because they complete their outer most sheel but in another group it is not possible.
Noble gases like He, Ne, Kr, Xe and Rn are placed in a separate group because of the following reasons: - They are extremely unreactive. - They donot combine with any other element of the periodic table. - All the noble gas elements have zero valency and placed in zero group with similar chemical properties.Nov
