A chemical equation is balanced to satisfy the law of conservation of mass i.e in the chemical reaction mass can neither be created nor be destroyed as well as principle of atom conservation(pOAC).

According to law of conservation of mass "mass can neither be created nor be destroyed in chemical reaction" so total number of atoms in reactant always equal to total number of atoms in prouduct. So we balanced equation
