Plants needs nitrogen gas for their survival. They do not get nitrogen gas directly from the atmosphere. Rhizobium bacteria present in the roots of leguminous plants which converts atmospheric nitrogen in the form nitrides and nitrogen oxides which is suitable for plants. Then this nitrogen ate used by plants to prepare food.
