A crowd of villagers had gathered at jallianwala bagh to attend afair after they had gathered there in 1000 general dyer entered the area blocked exit point and without warning opened fire crowd killing 100 womens ,children,the old and young. As the news of jallianwala spread crowds in northern indian towns respond with strikes,clashes,attacks on police and government buidings.the british responded with brutal repressiion seeking to humiliate and terrorise people
