Given side of solid cube = 12cm Volume of big cube = A^3 = (12)^3= 1728cm^3. The cube cut into eight eqaul volume cubes. Volume of 8 cubes=1728cm^3 Volume of 1small cube=1728/8=216cm^3 Now, volume of small cube=(a)^3=216 a=6cm. Surface area of big cube (S1)=6A^2=6x12^2=864cm^2. Now surface area of small cube (S2)=6a^2=6x6^2=216cm^2. Now S1/S2=864/216=4/1=4:1
