    so Fe and pt will not give metal nitrate on treatment with conc HNO3.

    when iron is treated with conc. HNO3 it becomes passive due to the formation of a protective layer of FeO. Fe2O3 on its surface. Pt, on the other hand being a Nobel metal does not react with conc. HNO3.
