Black soil is also known as Regur soil. Features of regur/black soil are : ★ It is made up of fine clayey material with a high moisture holding capacity. ★ It is rich in soil nutrients like calcium carbonate,magnesium, potash and lime, but poor in phosphoric content.

This soil is black in colour and also known as black soil. this is ideal for growing cotton. the factors of formation of regur soil is the climatic condition along with the parent rock material. this type of soil is generally found in the region of northwest deccan plateau and is made up of lava flows.they are mainly found in the states of maharashtra, madhya pradesh, chattisgarh. the two features are as follows: 1) they hold moisture for a long time. 2) they are rich in soil nutrients such as calcium carbonate , magnesium, potash and lime.
