V is inversely proportional to r so if r distance is infinite then V is 0

Since the capacitance of earth is very high it can absorb all the charge given to it . Therefore potential is taken zero.

As we know that earth is a good conductor and have very lage size. When some small charge is given to it there is no change so pot is taken is zero
