The Simon Commission was constituted in order to study constitutional reform in India which was then the most important colonial possession of the British Empire. It arrived in 1928 with John Simon as the head of the commission. The Indians opposed and rejected the Simon Commission as it did not have even a single Indian member within its fold and hence could not be expected to represent or even take into account the concerns of the Indian populace.
